University of Canterbury Scholarships 2011 for PhD & Master Studies

The University of Canterbury (UC) offers a number of scholarships for study towards a PhD degree or for the thesis year of a Masters degree. There is strong competition for these scholarships and applicants must have at least an A average (or the equivalent) for it to be worth applying.

To be considered for a UC Masters or Doctoral scholarship, in addition to submitting a scholarship application form, a complete application for admission should be made before or at the same time as the scholarship application is made. If admission has not been approved by prescribed dates, the scholarship application will not be considered.

Master Scholarship in Optics in Science & Technology at Institut D’Optique Graduate School, France

Students enrolled in the two-year programme will study in two different countries of their choice, spending one year in each and offering the opportunity to acquire 60 European Credit Transfer System units (ECTS) per year. Students are trained for technical or scientific positions in academic or industrial environment specialised in optics or using optics. PhD studies are a natural extension of the Course.

Mobility scheme: each student spends the first year at one of the five sites and the second year at one of the other four sites.

The language of instruction is English. Students are offered the possibility to learn the local language as part of the programme. Courses are taught by research staff members. The student population is multinational with a professor/student ratio of about 2.

University of Twente Master Scholarships 2011 for International Students

The UT Scholarship is awarded by the Foundation University of Twente Scholarship Programme of the University of Twente. The UT Scholarship is meant for international students who show excellence, both academically as well as socially. The UT Scholarship is awarded for one year of study and is extended for a second year if study results are sufficient. Please note that you can only be nominated for the UT Scholarship after you have been (provisionally) accepted by the educational programme of your choice.

International Master in Early Childhood Education and Care (IMEC) is a two-year international Master Programme (120 ECTS) in Early Childhood Education and Care. All students will follow a given structure, spending at least one semester at all three partner institutions.

IMEC is offered in cooperation between Oslo University College (Norway), University of Malta (Malta), and Dublin Institute of Technology (Ireland).

Middlesex University Postgraduate Scholarships for International Students 2011, UK

Middlesex University is renowned for offering unrivalled support to International students and gives out scholarships and merit awards to International students totaling around £1,000,000 each year.

Middlesex University has a fixed number of International Merit Awards available to all potential postgraduate international students. Awards will be given on a case-by-case basis and successful candidates will have the award amount deducted from their tuition fees when they enroll. The bursary provides recipients a 10 per cent reduction in course tuition fees and must be claimed prior to each year of study. The main objective is creating an educational programme that provides the required knowledge for a professional fire safety engineer in a Performance Based Design environment. Besides interuniversity cooperation, student mobility in Europe is one of the main points of interest of the overall programme. The mobility structure, with possible change in study location after each semester, gives the students the opportunity to gain from the strengths and expertise of each of the three universities.

EMCL: Erasmus Mundus Masters Scholarship in Clinical Linguistics
