Master Scholarships in Renewable Energy Science at RES, Iceland

RES – the School for Renewable Energy Science in Iceland is now accepting applications for its one year (90 ECTS credits) international M.Sc. Degree Program in Renewable Energy Science, for the academic year 2011-2012.

The RES Program will in February 2011 complete its third year of operation when 49 masters degree students from twelve different countries will graduate. The students this year are specializing in four different fields, namely Geothermal Energy, Hydropower, Fuel Cell Systems & Hydrogen, and Energy Systems & Policies. RES also offers a specialization in Biofuels & Bioenergy. In the near future the school will as well offer specializations in Wind & Wave Power and in Solar Energy in cooperation with foreign partner universities.

[Iceland] PhD Fellowship in Systems Biology of Human Metabolism, University of Iceland

The Center of Systems Biology, University of Iceland is looking to recruit a highly motivated PhD students to join a growing effort focusing on systems biology of human metabolism. The research at the CSB UoI focuses on

  1. human metabolism and
  2. industrial biotechnology

The Center is an interdisciplinary center with the Schools of Medicine, Engineering and Natural Sciences participating.

[Iceland] Fully Funded PhD Position in Environmental Engineering at University Of Iceland

Project Supervisor: Dr. Hrund Ó. Andradóttir

The successful candidate will work on a brand new research project characterizing the physical mechanisms within one of Iceland´s largest and deepest lakes, Lake Lagarfljót. As a sub-arctic lake, the weather forcing differs significantly from better studied lakes at lower latitudes. Processes such as stratification, internal seiching, differential heating and cooling and river density currents will be explored using both analytical and numerical methods. The successful candidate will also conduct field experiments in close collaboration with other Icelandic research institutes.
