The EMMEP (Erasmus Mundus Minerals and Environmental Programme) is a 2 year M.Sc. program for students in Mining / Geotechnical Engineering, Mineral Processing, Recycling and related academic studies. There are three different specialisations; accommodating groups with 15 to 20 students each.
Joining the EMMEP program is an excellent opportunity to study abroad with a group of international students.
Applications for the 2010-2012 Program have now been closed. For the 2011-2013 programme, applications from Non-European Students can be submitted until November 1st, 2010. European Students can apply until April 1st, 2011. The application form can be found here.

A 4-year PhD fellowship (FPI program) funded by the Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación from Spain is available. This fellowship is linked to a MICINN funded project (AGL2009-07006/ ACU) entitled “Physiological consequences of exercise in trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss): effects on muscle growth, immune system and reproduction (SWIMMING TROUT)”. The student will conduct studies that aim at describing the molecular and cellular effects of swimming exercise on skeletal muscle growth, the immune response and reproduction in the rainbow trout. The candidate will join the Molecular Physiology Group at the School of Biology, University of Barcelona , Spain , a dynamic research group led by Dr. Josep V. Planas that is currently composed of two postdoctoral researchers and three PhD students. In order to see the production and research orientation of Dr. Planas’s laboratory, please search PubMed/Web of Science using “planas jv” as querry.
EMARO, European Master on Advanced RObotics, is an integrated Masters course conducted by:
Mechanistic aspects and spatial effects in cell signalling, within TEAM Programme sponsored by Foundation for Polish Science.
Concepts and objectives
The leading aim of the project is to identify and study the turning points in molecular pathways of immune response and cancer, in which the single cell fate, understood as a choice between apoptosis, senescence, proliferation, differentiation or cell cycle arrest, is decided. As a model molecular pathways we will consider these related to innate and adaptive immune response and cancer, in which we have expertise. The project will be realized both by means of numerical simulations and theoretical analysis.

CREAM is a Marie Curie Initial Training Network, funded by the European Commission within the 7th Framework Programme and has started on September 1, 2009. CREAM includes 20 PhD (three years) and 3 postdoc (two years) projects. All projects are related to developing ecological models for the risk assessment of chemicals, primarily pesticides. Many projects include, or even focus on, empirical work.
We are looking now for candidates for CREAM’s 23 projects. Projects should start preferably on January 15, 2010, but earlier (or later) starts are possible. Deadline for applications is October 23.
