Between Scholarship Programs and Student Loans

For those who wish to study and finish college but cannot afford the high cost of education, you have 2 choices, either you apply for a scholarship program or you apply for a student loan. While entering a scholarship program seems more reasonable than taking student loan, both still have their pros and cons.

Of course, when you apply and happen to enter college under a scholarship program, you don’t have to worry about the finances and fees you have to pay for the entire duration of your studies. There are also thousands of grants that are up for grab every year. Scholarship programs have designed system that works to facilitate every student depending on their financial needs. Whether you are an intellectual person or someone with an average IQ, you can still fit in into one of the many scholarship programs available. Many scholarship programs cater those who are artists, stage performers, athletes, and students with special skills in other fields. They may not have high level of intelligence but they can get scholarships with their talents.

African American Scholarship

The African American population had been the most discriminated race in the country for the past decades. This resulted to fewer opportunities for the Blacks and lesser chances for them to prove their worth. And the worst hit was their opportunity to study.

Meanwhile, the new generation of African Americans is slowly entering the world of the all-White dominated society including the all-White fields such as Medicine, Sciences, Mathematics, Engineering, and Business. However, the African American’s participation in these mentioned fields is still unnoticed. There is still a great need for African American to take a significant chunk of pie in order to get noticed and be recognized. Although we can say that there are some African Americans who are outshining others in their fields, this is not enough.

Virtual U: The World's First Higher Education Simulation Game

Run your own university in this SimCity-like computer game (fully free download). “Designed to foster better understanding of management practices in American colleges and universities, Virtual U provides students, teachers, and parents the unique opportunity to step into the decision-making shoes of a university president. ‘Players’ are responsible for establishing and monitoring all the major components of an institution, including everything from faculty salaries to campus parking. Players can make decisions such as decreasing faculty-teaching time or increasing athletic scholarships. However, as in a real college or university, the complexity and potential effects of each decision must be carefully considered. And the Virtual U Board of Trustees is monitoring every move.”
