PhD Studentship in European Law in the Context of a EU FP7 Financed Project, Luxembourg

The University of Luxembourg has an opening in its Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance for
2 PhD students in European Law (M/F) in the context of a EU FP7 financed project:
Dynamics of Institutional cooperation in the European Union (INCOOP)

  • Ref: F2R-DRO-PEU-09INCO (to be mentioned in all correspondence)
  • 2-year fixed term contract, renewable one year (M/F)
  • Student AND employee status


The PhD positions are financed from the Initial Training Network (ITN) on Inter-institutional Cooperation in the EU (INCOOP), financed by the European Union within the framework of the People Programme: Initial Training Networks (FP7-PEOPLE-ITN-2008). For more information, please visit


  • Master’s degree in law or equivalent;
  • Excellent command of the English language and language skills in at least one of the additional working languages of the University of Luxembourg (French or German) are a requirement (all non-native English candidates have to pass the Academic IELTS – minimum score: 7,5 – or TOEFL Internet-based test – minimum score: 113).

Under EU financing rules for the programme, applicants are eligible if they are not a national of the State in which the host institution is located (G. D. of Luxembourg). At the time of appointment, the researcher may not have lived or carried out his/her main activity in the country of the host institution for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to his/her appointment.   • Each of the generously funded PhD studentship is available for a duration of 36 months (maximum)

  • A cover letter including a statement of research interests and motivation, including how this relates to the work of the host institution.
  • A detailed curriculum vitae.
  • If possible, a transcript of results of prior university studies.
  • Certified copies of university diplomas.
  • A list of publications and copies thereof, if applicable. If not, a sample of written work of the candidate.
  • The name, current position, and relationship to the applicant, of two referees and their letters of recommendation (can be directly mailed by post or email to the address below).
  • Proof of nationality and compliance with the eligibility criteria (above).
