[Belgium] PhD Studentship on Implementation of Nanobody Technology to Study Cancer Cell Invasion In Vitro and In Vivo, VIB Research Institute
We utilize recombinant Camelid; single domain antibodies (nanobodies) as modulators of key proteins involved in (cancer) cell motility and survival. Through intracellular expression of nanobodies it becomes possibly to trace endogenous proteins thereby circumventing the need for overexpression. In addition nanobodies have the capacity to prevent or break protein-interactions that are generally considered as ‘undruggable’ with small molecule compounds. This approach cannot be mimicked by RNAi. Following initial training, the candidate will be expected to develop strategies to implement nanobody technology by using mono- or multivalent formats to study cancer cell invasion in vitro and in vivo.
The position is open immediately.
A contract of approx 2 year can be offered.
Profile
- Experience with laboratory animals is an asset but not a prerequisite.
- The candidate should be motivated to apply for an IWT or FWO fellowship.
