A Science Foundation Ireland funded PhD Position in the area of Nonlinear Dynamics of Coupled Semiconductor Lasers is available, starting from October 2009 for a duration of up to four years.

Modern concepts from Applied Mathematics, including numerical bifurcation analysis and time delay differential equations will be employed to gain a fundamental understanding of the complex dynamical features in coupled laser systems. The theoretical results will be compared with data obtained by experimentalists.

Students with a strong background in Theoretical Physics, Applied Mathematics or Electrical Engineering are encouraged to apply.
