[Germany] PhD Scholarships in Economics at Bonn Graduate School of Economics (BGSE)
The BGSE offers a distinguished PhD program for outstanding students holding a bachelor’s or master’s degree (or equivalent) in economics or related fields (such as mathematics, statistics, business administration, accounting and finance). All BGSE activities are conducted in English. Students are offered grants to cover living expenses and are provided with adequate office space. Application deadline is April 30, 2009. Courses start in October 2009.
Financial Support
Students who join the BGSE as students of the Master program are offered grants of about € 800 per month; doctoral students are offered grants of about € 1.100 per month, to cover living expenses during the first year. Thereafter, grants are provided to students in good standing.
Students of the BGSE who have a paper accepted at a conference are provided with travel funds if the attendance of the conference is endorsed by the supervisor. Similar funds are available to attend summer schools.
The BGSE does not raise tuition from students admitted as doctoral students. Yet we ask our students to officially enrol with the University of Bonn as a doctoral student and pay the common contribution of app. € 170 per semester for general social services. A seasonal ticket for public transportation is included in this service fee.
In exceptional cases (e.g. going for a double masters’ degree) students have to pay tuition (incl. common contribution) of app. € 670 per semester.
